Rosette Wreath

This wreath is about as easy as it gets .. I promise!!

Here's what you need:
a grapevine wreath
small rosettes
wire cutters

Snip each rosette, leaving about 2 inches on the stem

Stick the rosettes in to the wreath.. they do not need fastened in any other way!

Very Spring, Right?

Boom.. 10 min.. Late Spring Wreath!!

now i need to tackle the flower beds... thinking fake flowers would be better there too.. LOL!

Easter Wreath

Wow Easter is late this year! I feel like we need it for Spring to officially start!
But I am ready with this cute wreath ;)
Super Easy.. here ya go!!

Supplies:
Wreath form, Burlap, Eggs, Easter grass, Ribbon to hang and a glue gun!
I chose this thicker, more boxy type.  I thought it might be better for placing the eggs... but I am sure you can use a rounder wreath form as well.
The burlap I had was cut into strips from a previous use... so I just took each strip and started wrapping.   I didn't wrap it tight so it would look full.  As I wrapped I just turned the burlap a little so it would give it different dimensions.   I hot glued (on low temp) the ends to the wreath form.
I added some Easter grass, hot gluing it on.

Side note... Does anyone else notice that you find Pine needles till Easter and Easter grass till..
oh say Halloween!?  geesh.  ok... rant over.

This little doll dressed in her matching dress to take a pic.. how could I not include!?

I finished it off with a loop of a ribbon to hang :)
Here is a picture of some of my dearest Navy wife friends in our squadron.  I love these ladies!!!  They have helped me oh so much through this first half of deployment... Laughs, Babysitting, Hanging Out, Wine Nights, An Encouraging Word, Late Night Texts and Drying Some Tears.  Deployment is only possible for me through Faith that Jesus holds me and Friends like this... and not to forget my awesome family and civilian friends too!!!

We made burlap wreaths back in the Fall and said we were going to do it again this Spring... it seemed so far away then... and Here. We. Are!!!!
Also love the uniqueness to them .. the wreaths and the friends!

Lanai Update

I often joke that I want to sit out on my lanai and eat cheesecake to solve the problem at hand by using stories from "back in St. Oloff".. like the Golden Girls of course :)   Well, come to think of it, I have sat out here (I'm enjoying it right now!) so many times with my family, chatting on the phone with my sister, getting to know some new friends over a glass of wine or coffee... and it's my favorite place to craft :)   We love this area of our house, it's an extra room for us since we can use it practically year around.  ... the "winter" in FL usually allows for it to be used in the day and the hot humid summers often only allow it to be relaxing really early in the morning or really late at night.

Still, it's pretty perfect.

This week I've done a few summer like upgrades .. it feels so cozy and beachy!!!

I saw these napkins at World Market. I didn't know what I was going to do with them yet (I did know we were not going to be wiping bbq sauce mouths with them though!)
Love the colors. The beachy prints. And they were on sale.
I tied the napkins to some rope using thin twine.

I used small command hooks on the sides of the aluminum frame (discovered it was aluminum after my first idea didn't work.. magnets. Uh!)  I used the ones with a toggling hook so it allows for some movement with the wind.

It's hard to get all three windows!

Seriously, look how well they match!

Also at World Market I found these FUN lanterns!  They are really light.. so I'm hoping the Command hook will keep these babies up there!
I tied the rope to the hook on the lantern and then another knott in the other end where I looped it through a hook extender (also World Market) so it could hang from the ceiling.

Who's coming over to hang out with me??
Cheesecake, wine and coffee :)
(ok, probably just wine..)

DIY Decor.. "LOVE"

I had the best week last week with my sister and her family!! The cousins had a grand time together!!  And Oh MY! When they left.. It was February!  How did that happen??

I had a plan for a Valentine's mantle.. Simple. Pink. Soft.
& that's exactly how it turned out.  LOVE!

Speaking of {LOVE} .. my favorite part of the mantle turned out to be a sign, with LOVE on it.
Garrett had been collecting treasures (read also: dumpster diving) and found some great pieces of pressed wood.  He claimed the larger one for the fort (of course!) but said I could have the other piece.
I should probably interject that the dumpster is next door.. a site of new construction..mostly full of pallets and other home materials that 8 year old boys find amazing and essential to build a fort! ;)

Here's the finished sign.

Here s the mantle (rather, my faux one above the TV).

a little tule for a soft look

old halloween candy (pink nerds) also make a good filler

I am enjoying this mantle.. Simple. Pink. Soft.
and I love the gray walls!!

A little frustrated, I'd say

I'm going to cough up a confession right now...  Full blast, can't take it any more.. Frustration. With. Myself.

My house is so not ready for visitors. Visitors that are coming tomorrow.  My sister would be so mad if she knew am stressing like this. (Sorry Meg!) She's so laid back and not the type at All to judge if my house is cleaned and in order or if there are toys and piles throughout..  ahem.. the ladder.

Its a disappointment in myself. I wanted to have it ready for when she came.
That was the goal.

No, i didn't think it would be all organized and each room painted and decorated with all the Pinterest ideas i have... I'm not that delusional.  But a general neatness would be nice.
And folks, that is NOT what we have.

I should have organized the guest room last week.. it is kind of a catch all since its the loft and out of my daily sight.  Instead, I decided to paint the living room and laundry room.  I should have cleaned and organized Monday when the kids were off. Instead I decided to start painting Micah's room.. because it was going to be "easy".  Well... let's just say I upped the ante in there. It is going to be Great... at some point.

So there we have it. My confession of the messiest house ever before guests arrive. I don't want to whine here... but ya know,  it's not all happy little crafts and cute kids here all the time. ;)

Can anyone identify?!?!?!?
Thanks for listening (if you read to here.. you rock!) and hey, don't judge! Unless of course you have it all together all the time... then i invite you to throw stones... throw lots of stones! ;)

Ps... why did i take time to write this??  Well besides feeling much better... i multi-tasked and did it on my phone while rocking Micah!  Boom! Break out the caffeine.. (or wine?!)   It is cleaning time!!

going to attack the kitchen first!

Rustic January Front Porch

Trying to capture "winter" while it is 80 degrees is somewhat difficult.  After being in snowy Ohio though, I felt the need to continue it somewhat... it is after all, January.  I didn't have much of a plan for what I wanted to do on the front porch.. it just sort of evolved.  And I kind of like it!

It's natural.  It has a touch of Florida.  It has glitter.

There's those silver numbers again!

pinecones and greenery provided by our neighborhood :)

antler borrowed from Garrett :)

Welcome!
here's the glitter.. the first initial of our names :)
This is an old rug maker, of my great grandma's.  I just loved the texture and height here. :)
So yeah, January can be kind of blah in the decorating world.  But I really don't think this is "blah" at all.  It's inviting.. like, come on in and have a cup of coffee or tea (possibly iced...)!

side note... my accomplice on the gathering walks fell asleep on the job!

LOL, I gathered these last week when Micah started feeling better and wanted to be outside.  So on one of these walks I decided how to "dress my porch for January".. then on another walk I brought some clippers and did the neighborhood pruning.  Let's just say the construction guys on our street think I am NUTS! (notice the pallet boxes in the pictures.. they know it's me!)
